Why should you choose us to make the portraits you want?
- We care about how you feel about
them.
- We are flexible about where we
take them.
- We will happily take several different types
of shot, for different purposes, or take several people, on one shoot.
And here is a key differentiator
from many of our competitors - we will give you electronic copies of the
best shots for non-commercial use (i.e. you can't then sell them yourself). Many photographers only sell prints, but we believe
this way to be fairer, to give you more flexibility, and to be better value for money. (We are also happy to arrange prints
if you want them!)
Our aim is to create prortraits that the people in them LIKE
(and our clients too!)
Many people hate pictures of themselves - if you are like that we will do our level best to help you relax and to achieve
the image that you want to portray.
'Portraits' is a very broad category, and the images within it can vary tremendously. One major factor that can influence
this is understanding the purpose of the photograph. For example, who is it designed to impress? A partner or spouse? The
broader family and friends? Potential customers and business partners? We will talk to you about this before the photo shoot
- we want to make sure we get it right.
Don't worry if you mainly want it just to please yourself, and maybe boost your moral - we think that is a perfectly
acceptable reason for a photo shoot too!
Here are some examples of how the approach toward the picture can strongly affect what we create together...
Some pictures simply show a well lit face, clearly displaying the persons features. Companies can often require
such portraits for ID cards, HR records, newsletters, press releases and so on. However individuals can also find them useful
- for a passport photo that looks human for a change, or maybe for their profile on a networking site.
Another approach is to make portraits that display in some way what you do. Again this can obviously be useful for a
business. For individuals this could be your work, hobby, sport or other passtime. It doesn't have to be as action packed
as this diver - maybe you knit, garden, walk dogs, renovate houses, collect antiques...whatever is important to you, and helps
define how you see yourself, can make for a great picture that is 'really you'.
Or perhaps you want to show some important relationships between people. A family, a team, a couple. This might be to
mark a special occasion - we recently photographed a couple on their anniversary in one of their favourite places. They had
lots of pictures of each other, but rarely any together! Another occasion saw a 90 year old celebrating her birthday
with the next 3 generations of her family.
